PROFILE Robotgirl aka Arna Singleton is a hip hop dancer/choreographer /performer/event organiser and instructor. Dancing for over 13 years - hip hop dancing has been her one true love specialising in popping hence the name Robotgirl given to her by her boy when she used to pop at dance clubs six years ago. She has been a member of LadiesLuv for almost two years and is a dancer/choreographer of the Outskirtz Bgirl Crew, United Funk Hip Hop Dance Crew and the Get Krumped! Dancers. Always decked out in Adidas she has a soft spot for all things that represent 80’s hip hop; films music, clothes etc. She completed a Bachelor of Media & Communication (Media/Marketing) at Swinburne University in 2001 and at this time also trained in hip hop dance for over 2 years perfecting her dance technique and style. Robotgirl has been choreographing since secondary school and choreographed performances at the end of her school career for both school and television. Since then she has been inundated with work, most recently being selected to perform at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and with Ladiesluv at the 2006 Big Day Out. When she is not teaching a class or performing she is working at The Push running hip hop workshops/performances (www.thepush.asn.au) and at Moonee Valley Youth Services with her own creation ‘Get Krumped!’ a local hip hop dance-off competition run each year and other hip hop events. She feels extremely lucky to be doing what she loves each day (which isn’t really work - when you love what you do). She has taught at over 25 schools and centres over the past year and will continue teaching and educating people on the foundations of hip hop and Australian hip hop culture. People who have inspired her along the way are; Madonna, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani, Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez, Tina Landon and the film ‘Rize’. She lives by the motto ‘the dance has many styles cos ur stayin’ true to what u do’. Hip Hop isn’t just an interest it’s a lifestyle.
